Podere Macellio : Italy’s Native Wine Grape Terroirs

The Bianco Company was founded in the mid-1700s as a small property situated outside of the walls that’s urrounded the historic town of Caluso in Piedmont, still standing today.

Podere Macellio ancient family has always produced only typical local wines from vine Erbaluce. They make these wines: Erbaluce di Caluso, Caluso spumante, Caluso Passito from the withering of the grapes.

Very recently, Podere Macellio has been recognized and awarded GOLD Medal by Asia Import News.

Erbaluce di Caluso

Awarded Gold by Asia Import News

The “Erbaluce di Caluso” DOCG wine is the best known of the wines produced in our area. Dry white wine bearing the name of the municipality of Caluso, combined with the name of the grape.

The harvest of these grapes is done with small and low boxes so as not to compress it during transport. Brought to the cellar, it is de-stemmed and subsequently softly pressed. The high technology allows to obtain musts without solid parts and impeccable quality.

Fermentation follows at controlled temperature, in stainless steel tanks, with inoculation of indigenous yeasts. Maturation of several months on its ferments will allow their partial lysis with a remarkable exaltation and development of primary aromas. The aim is to obtain a product of high structural richness with the least amount of manipulation by man.

Thus was born this wine with a soft color but with a complex, large, persuasive, soft and full-bodied aroma. The full taste is well structured, sustained and harmonious.

Wine to combine with lean appetizers, dry and broth soups, egg and fish dishes, herb omelettes and risotto in general.
