In AIN WINE CHALLENGE 2018, Adelina Molettieri won TWO GOLD MEDALS!
What’s the secret about making great wines?
The vineyards of Adelina Molettieri cover an area of about 4 hectares and are planted on the slopes of “Contrada Chianzano” (a district in the Irpinia region). Soil exposure and composition are critical to the correct and healthy ripening of grapes.
Adelina Molettieri’s wine makers family replanted the long-established father grape grafted wine variety, which was not attacked by phylloxera in the early 1900s. The real intention of Adelina’s passionate family is to protect the vineyard’s traditional farming and grape harvest; in fact, they still hand over an ancient farming system called “Tennecchia”.
Do you know that Adelina Molettieri makes great aglianico wines?
If you are a win-lover, you must have heard the grape name”aglianico”. Aglianico wines are full-bodied, with high tannins and high acidity giving them ageing potential. In the Campania region, Aglianico is also blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Young Aglianico tannins are difficult and concentrated and take several years to mature. The aged Aglianico wines are usually deep pomegranate red, with a more concentrated fruit aroma. The tannins are smooth and balanced, with aromas of chocolate and plums. Aglianico has received increasing attention due to its high quality potential.
