Interview of Mr. Alessandro Fuselli – Export Manager – Terre del Marchesato for AsiaImportNews – Exclusive
Could you please tell us the story of your winery, when it was created and how it developed decades after decades ?
A story that began in 1954, when Emilio Fuselli (my Great Gran-father), a farmer that from Marche emigrated to Tuscany in Bolgheri, buy a plot of land from the “Marchese Incisa della Rocchetta”. With the production of this land, built the house, the foundation of the family. After him, his son Aldo (my gran-father), continues its activity with the expansion of the land by introducing the production of extra virgin olive oil.
But it was Maurizio (my Father) after a decennial experience from Antinori to take over the company, transforming radically, planting only vineyards.
The great passion for the earth transmitted to him by his grandfather Emilio, the search for quality as its target and higher education gained in the field enable Maurizio to hone his capacity and bringing him to the construction of the winery: small but innovative and functional, conceived to unite genuine tradition with all the most advanced winemaking technique. The first harvest was in 2003 with the release of “Emilio Primo”, in honour of grandfather Emilio Fuselli who inspired and carried Maurizio, and “Tarabuso” the our first riserva wine, with a total production of 18.000 bottles.
Today we produce about 120.000 bottles per years, from whites wines reds wines.
What sort of wines are you producing ?
We produce 2 whites wines :
- Emilio Primo Bianco : a classic Vermentino of Bolgheri area.
- Papeo : Vermentino Riserva, with a particular fermentation in barrique, and long batonage in steel.

- Inedito : a simple red wine from Merlot and Syrah
- Emilio Primo Rosso : a classic Bolgheri blend, from Cabernet S., Merlot and Syrah.
- Tarabuso : Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva
- Marchesale : Syrah Riserva
- Aldone : Merlot Riserva (our top wine, that come from the our more old vineyards transplanted in the 1954, from my Great Gran-father Emilio)

Our distribution is divided in 40% export and 60% national.

We propose a special Bolgheri DOC wine, with a simple price, good for a common people and we also produce « Super-Tuscany » wines only mono-varietal (Papeo – Tarabuso – Marchesale – Aldone) with a top of quality, with a cheaper price respect the other big Cru of our Bolgheri area.
Do you produce grapes in a organic or environmental friendly method, or with general methods ?
We produce a in an environmental friendly method, because us my father teach me, we are the first customers of our wines. So we have a great attention to the Territory, local products and a great respect for nature, this are the basis of quality’s research at all stages of processing “From the Earth to the wine.”
