Campolargo, a family-owned vineyard in Portugal, has been producing wines for over three generations. The vineyards are grouped into two properties, Quinta de S. Mateus and Quinta de Vale de Azar, with a total of 170 hectares. In the mid-nineties, the family began vinification trials with various varieties, and the decision was then taken to start making wine for the market and build a new wine cellar. The first wines of the Campolargo brand were those from the 2000 harvest, and the new cellar was only built in 2004.
Currently, the third generation, Jorge Campolargo, is responsible for the vineyard, and Carlos Campolargo for the winery and sales. The fourth generation, Joana Campolargo, ensures administrative support and external relations, and the family is committed to maintaining and pursuing the exclusively family nature of their viticulture.
Campolargo produces a wide range of wines, including Quinta de Vale de Azar and Valdazar reds and the Campolargo sparkling wine in the Bical, Arinto, and Cerceal versions. The vineyard has vineyards facing all sun exposures, and the plots receive the traditional names of the sites, which they use for the wines born there.
