Azienda Agricola Santa Lucia : Create typical, recognizable, and well-structured wine

Since its inception, Santa Lucia winery has produced wines solely from its own predominantly indigenous vineyards located west of Corato at 300 meters above sea level. Melograno, Santa Lucia, Tufaroli, and Castigliola are the names of the vineyards, which total just under 37 acres. Coratina olive groves surround the fields, producing Extra Virgin olive oil with a fruity and naturally spicy flavor. It does not purchase grapes or wine from third-party suppliers or growers.

The company’s philosophy revolves around meticulously producing individual wines. This begins with soil preparation, followed by the selection, reproduction, and planting of the best clones in the fields using a bio-dynamic approach.

The use of French oak barrels from Allier and Tronais, as well as the elimination of stabilization and filtration practices, results in wines that are the highest expression of artisan tradition and respect the best qualities of its territory: wines that are typical, recognizable, and well-structured, with a mature and fruity taste.

Very recently, Azienda Agricola Santa Lucia wines have been recognized and awarded Gold Medal by Asia Import News Wine Challenge 2022.

Il Melograno Nero di troia castel del Monte doc 2017

Awarded Gold by Asia Import News

Tasting Notes:

Santa Lucia Il Melograno Castel del Monte Nero di Troia is a soft, rich, velvety wine with plenty of flesh and backbone. As a quintessential southern Italian red, it offers an eye-popping, deep purple color, a heady aroma, and a big mouthful of wine. Black cherry, woodland berries and purple plum flavors dominate the palate profile of this delightful wine, and with the support of ripe tannins and a touch of oak, the 2011 Santa Lucia Castel del Monte Nero di Troia presents itself as a rich, balanced, savory red fit for almost any occasion. For optimal enjoyment, we suggest affording Santa Lucia’s savory Nero di Troia 15-20 minutes of aeration before serving at cool room temperature (no more than 65° F).
