Entre-Deux-Mers is Bordeaux’s largest appellation and the world’s largest contiguous wine-growing zone. The Garonne and Dordogne rivers are the oceans in this example, and it literally means “between two seas.” On the right bank of the Garonne, the Guéridon family’s Chateau Haut Pougnan winery, located in the heart of the Ente-Deux-Mers wine-growing region, harvests grapes for its high-quality wines. The majority of the soils are loamy and calcareous, giving the wines a delicate aroma and character.
The area’s clay-limestone soils allow the vineyard to produce particularly good wines with a precise bouquet thanks to its clay-limestone composition.
When it comes to white wines, the best way to enjoy them is to drink them right away. They’re a terrific addition to meals that use fish and seafood. Aperitifs and cold slices of meat go well with rosé wines. These wines improve greatly in the first two years. The red wine matures in oak barrels for one year after three to five years. Great vintages mature nicely in the cellar for eight to 10 years.
Chateau Haut-Pougnan recently joined Asia Awards 2022 and has received 2 Gold Medals for their white wines:
