Château Clos des Abbesses : The Passion of a Family to Serve a Tradition

Since 2016, the Fanara family has been happy to watch over the destinies of three rare wines from Saint-Emilion. Planting, vineyard management and winemaking, restoration of the Château and development of new facilities …everything is done here to reveal the quality of the terroir and restore all the charm of a historic estate in the heart of the vineyards. It is with pleasure that they will receive you by appointment to introduce you to the property and taste their wines.

In their constant quest for excellence, the Saint-Émilion winegrowers were among the first to adopt sustainable development objectives, working responsibly and continually to preserve the environment, respect consumers and guarantee quality.

With the conviction that they are laying foundations for the future in all facets of their work, they always strive to achieve combined business, environmental and societal goals, with excellence as their constant guiding principle.

Very recently, Château Clos des Abbesses has joined Asia Awards 2020 by Asia Import News and won a gold medal in this competition:

CHATEAU CLOS DES ABBESSES – 2016 – SAINT-EMILION GRAND CRU

Interview of Mr. Clément FanaraChâteau Clos des Abbesses

Our desire is to get involved in this beautiful terroir by emphasizing excellence of work and quality. Our intention is to invest as much in the earth and the vine as in the wine cellars to bring the qualitative elements worthy of a great wine. The passion of a family to serve a Tradition.

Question 1: Do you already export to Asia ? If yes, where ? If no, what type of importers & distributors are you looking for in Asia ?

Answer : Not so far. We are just beginning to work on developing export.

Question 2: What is the most unique and qualitative part of your products, different from competitors ?

Answer : This wine comes from a specific selection of plots. Generally speaking, we do not use of glyphosate (herbicides) nor noxious substance (CRM classified product) . The selection of barrels has been done thanks to a specific work in narrow collaboration with the cooper (Darnajou cooper for instance) to fine tune the right barrels. Thus, deliberately, we produced a small batch of wine (only 1800 bottles) to reach a level of quality. And above all, a great work in partnership, in full confidence, with our oenologist (Arnaud Chambolle From Oenoconseil) has been key to realize the CHATEAU CLOS DES ABBESSES.

Question 3: When did you start to export your brand worldwide, and what is your development plan for the next years ?

Answer : We only export in Germany and USA since 2 years. We begun to participate to international fairs. We are looking for partners / distributors or retailers.
