The Gussalli Beretta family has been active in the industry sector for over 500 years. Their history ensures that the same values, the same level of uncompromising quality, and the same distinctive rigour that the family has made its own are carried over into the protection and the enhancement of the wine production areas that are the hallmark of the Agricole Gussalli Beretta wine estates. The Group’s four wine Estates anchor four great DOCGs of Italy: Lo Sparviere, the historical family estate in Franciacorta, Castello di Radda with its striking hillslopes in Chianti Classico, Orlandi Contucci Ponno and the scented Mediterranean scrub of the Colline Teramane, and ForteMasso in the Langhe of Barolo, a new UNESCO World Heritage Site.
There are four estates in prime areas, the focus of the wines is quality and the catch-cry is ‘precision agriculture and winemaking’. The wine estates total holdings over 100 ha, with a production of 300,000 to 500,000 bottles annually. Each of the estates is operated independently with its own winery and cellar master, but the family has on overall director of production and consultancy advice.
AZIENDA AGRICOLA LO SPARVIERE
In the ancient cellar, which takes its name from the effigy depicted on the fireplace in the country hall, the Franciacorta DOCG in the Brut, Extra Brut, Satén and Rosé types are produced and mature under the centenary times and perfect their fragrance and perlage for at least 25 months . Dossello, a 100% Chardonnay, and the Cacciatore, blended with merlot and cabernet sauvignon, complete the offer with fine still wines.
AZIENDA AGRICOLA CASTELLO DI RADDA
Sangiovese is the main grape of the company’s production. At Radda in Chianti this grape variety is expressed with particular notes of finesse and elegance that are enhanced in the refinement in bottle for many years. Production is concentrated on Chianti Classico in the vintage and reserve versions. The Guss, in production limited to 4000 pieces, comes instead from our best Merlot grapes which expresses peculiarities of power and at the same time of refinement.
AZIENDA AGRICOLA ORLANDI CONTUCCI PONNO
The Cabernet, Sauvignon and Chardonnay grapes are grown on the hills of the Vomano valley, from which full-bodied red wines and delicate whites are obtained. Montepulciano is expressed in a pleasant and round version in the Rubiolo DOC while it finds greater strength and depth in the Regula Specula and in the Riserva Colline Teramane DOCG The Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo vinified from Montepulciano grapes, represents in rosé the synthesis between structure and delicacy of perfumes.

ForteMasso is located right in the heart of the Langhe, composed of gentle hills that resemble a seabed. We are in Monforte d’Alba in Castelletto, a famous Cru for the production of Barolo. ForteMasso is located in a dominant position enjoying a unique view over the Langhe and the villages. Its Nebbiolo da Barolo vineyards are entirely based on the Castelletto Cru, which includes the Pressa Historic Vineyard.

Castello di Radda Chianti Classico DOCG 2016

Every area of the Chianti Classico region has its own particular terroir. Our vineyards are located about 400 meters above sea level and enjoy an exposition to the southeast, the south, and the southwest. The soils has a clay-limestone structure with a good presence of siliceous skeleton. The low production yields, good exposure sustained by an evening ventilation and temperature fluctuations due to low night temperatures favor a correct maturation of the bunch. The grapes are harvested manually and transported to the winery in small 20 kg baskets.

The climate of Radda is characterized by strong thermal excursions and never excessive maximum temperatures, favoring thus elegance of our wines. The soil is of a clayey-calcareous type more or less loose depending on the vineyard. The Merlot grapes come from the vineyards located in the cooler area of our hills; this particular microclimate avoids over-ripening of the grapes and guar- antees the typical characteristics of roundness and pleasantness of a Merlot. The Sangiovese grapes,instead, harvested from the younger Chianti Classico vineyards of Castello di Radda, donate the wine the typical characteristic of freshness, refinement and elegance.
