Known as the best of Vulture land to big wineries, in and out of Basilicata, Vigne Mastrodomenico have supplied high quality grapes for FIVE generations.
The Mastrodomenico family has grown grapes for the 5th generation. At the beginning, Wine is made for fun, friends and relatives. As time passed, the wines were admired elsewhere, so Donato, Giuseppe and Emanuela decided to label their products. In 2000, when the first Aglianico del Vulture brand Mastrodomenico was released on the market, only 1,000 bottles were sold out within a few months. With the increase in the number of years: 2000, then 5000, up to 30.000 this year.
The 8 hectares of vineyards are based on the slopes of Bald Eagle Mountain, an ancient extinct volcano that overlooks breathtaking landscapes. The volcanic soil and careful farming make each vintage unique and of exceptional quality. It’s a real jewel for viticulture in Vulture land and for Aglianico, the big red of south Italy.
HOW THEY GUARANTEE SUPERIOR QUALITIES OF THEIR WINES?
The vineyard of about 8ha are located in Rapolla in Acqua Rossa, close to the sanctuary of Diga del Rendina and along the western side of Mount Vulture. Volcanic natural soils have strong iron notes and careful processing (according to biological standards) to ensure high quality at every harvest.
The wine cellar is carved into the rock and the temperature created is perfect for the refinement and maturation of the wine. The winemaking process is manual and most of it is handmade. It also come with passion and extreme care.
Their diligence has gained many credits from wine-lovers and medias. Particularly, their wine Likos won the GOLD MEDAL in AIN WINE CHALLENGE 2018!

even if she graduated in law with good prospects in the academic world, from Turin she decided to return to her country of origin in Basilicata. Thus she decides to dedicate herself totally to the promotion and enhancement of what her family has realized with sacrifices and passion. And in small steps “the small family run winery” becoming known all over the world for this quality and craftsmanship of this productions.
In vino veritas is her motto.
