Podere Montale was founded in July 2014, but finds its true beginning in the first harvest in 2015. The story has to be written.
During the first years they have taken a path aimed at geographical and social integration.
The plan was to become a benchmark for the whole community of Seggiano and Montecucco production area.
Podere Montale is in an authentic and undiscovered territory, magnetic and in some ways mysterious.
Their objective was also to enhance the place where they live through a logic of growth and mutual improvement. And from our point of view we think they did a good job!
A UNIQUE PLACE BETWEEN EARTH AND SKY
Podere Montale wines come to life where the Val d’Orcia leaves the pass at the slopes of an old volcano, the Monte Amiata, a wonderful place that seems to have been stripped of the fairy tales.
Talking about old times – the earliest evidence of the territory goes back to a primitive painting in the so-called “cave of the archer” datable between 5000 and 3000 b.c.

Podere Montale territory is perfect to produce olive oil and wine being in a place that benefits the ventilation coming from the sea and at the same time the presence of a mountain of about 1800 meters behind it.
During the summers the long and sunny days are mitigated by a strong nocturnal thermal excursion.
So here is one of the tips – the climatic conditions – between the stony subsoil and the presence of ancient lava compounds their wines get a particular freshness.
THE WINES
“Respecting biodiversity and natural resources” this was another important ingredient in their success mix!
The wines are made exclusively with theyr own grapes. The 18 hectares are divided between Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards are all located near the winery from 250 to 450 meters above sea level.
THE BEATING HEART OF THEIR PASSION
Podere Montale winery is located in the center of the estate, surrounded by vineyards. An interesting choice is the passage between the vinification area and the aging cellar is obligatory through the tasting room: guests and wine-makers interact to create a sincere product of excellence.
