THE TERRITORY
All single vineyards are situated in the northern Krems Valley.
Lovers of wine from around the world know that a premier wine requires time in the cellar and in the bottle.
This process should not be rushed. Thus, going forward FERDINAND MAYR explains how he will keep his signature wines in used oak barrels for a minimum of two years.
On sadly note, this means that there will be no chance for him to submit the wines in time for the tasting deadlines at the major wine magazines.
FERDINAND MAYR believes in making high-end, cellarable wines, produced with time for slow development on the fine lees.
FERDINAND MAYR WINES
Come from an area north of the city of Krems on the Danube, from the outstanding vineyards around the town of Senftenberg.
There – in three single vineyards with old vines – FERDINAND MAYR harvests the grapes to produce a small volume of boutique Grüner Veltliner and Riesling Krems Valley under the name „KAISERWETTER“.
Vineyard Pellingen – Grüner Veltliner
Vineyard Timmelstein – Riesling
Vineyard Ebritzstein – Riesling
In addition he produces a range of classic easy drinking wines with a strong individual character. Grüner Veltliner, Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch.
These wines bear the name “NA ALSDANN” from the old Austrian expression used to describe something that’s turned out—perhaps unexpectedly—quite well.
We gladly recommend FERDINAND MAYR wines – they have a unique taste and you will be amazed by their quality and details.
