Could you please tell us the story of your winery, when it was created and how it developed decades after decades ?
The Domaine is an independant familly estates for many generations of Geoffroy. From a small winery 300 years ago, the Domaine Geoffroy covers today a little more than 50 hectares over three levels of Chablis AOC.
What sort of wines are you producing ?
Bourgogne Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru Vau-Ligneau, Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy, Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume. We’re also buying grappes to produce some Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos.
How important are your export distribution compared to national distribution ?
Export represent today 70% of our sales. So, France represents 30%.
What sort of distributors are your customers ?
Most of the times, we’re working with traditional wine importers outside Europe and traditional wine wholesalers in Europe. In France, restaurant and wholesalers.
Why your wines are different from other wineries in your area ?
We’re known for the freshness and the minerality of our production.
Do you produce grapes in a organic or environmental friendly method, or with general methods ?
Environmental friendly method.
Are your wines already distributed in Asia, and if not what are the countries you are looking for new distributors ?
We’re working in Japan, Taiwan, Hong-Kong, Singapore, Australia and China. China remains a small and difficult market to approach for us, most of our wines are white and 90% of the consumption is red. We’ll be pleased to find an importer in South Korea.
Is there anything who want to add about your wines, story or any news ?
Alain Geoffroy owns the second largest Corkscrew collection in France. He has built a museum with more than 5000 pieces. The place is incredible to visit. TF1 (French TV) has already visit us two times. You’re of course very welcome to visit us.
