Could you please tell us the story of your winery, when it was created and how it developed decades after decades ?
The company Chiarli was founded in 1860 by Mr. Cleto Chiarli. Today the company is still owned and runned by the Chiarli family. The actual owners are Mauro and Anselmo Chiarli. Chiarli exported their wines already in the last decade of the 19th century. In italy and in many countries (more than 60 !) Around the world ‘Chiarli’ is synonyme to ‘quality lambrusco’.
Today we have two wineries : one in modena – known for the higher supermarket range and one in castelvetro famous for the very high quality lambrusco wines.
What sort of wines are you producing ?
Lambrusco is our core business : mainly doc lambrusco – sorbara doc and grasparossa doc. Furthermore ‘pignoletto’ – a white – dry – sparkling quality wine
How important are your export distribution compared to national distribution ?
50% Domestic and 50% Export
What sort of distributors are your customers ?
For Chiarli 1860 brand : importers and supermarkets / higher range
For Cleto Chiarli brand : fine wines distributors
Why your wines are different from other wineries in your area ?
Due to a very accurate selection of the grapes, must and wines, and to a very slow and long fermentation our wines have the full characteristics of lambrusco (= freshness, fruitiness) and full elegancy with a fine and persistent perlage.
Do you produce grapes in a organic or environmental friendly method, or with general methods ?
Till some years ago only in the traditional / general method ; we have now some organic vineyards as experience and within the next decade we foresee that all our vineyards will be organic.
Are your wines already distributed in Asia, and if not what are the countries you are looking for new distributors ?
Yes – in most Asia countries and we are still looking for new opportunities
