Could you please tell us the story of your winery, when it was created and how it developed decades after decades ?
Champagne COLLARD-PICARD was founded in 1996, few days after the wedding of Olivier COLLARD with Caroline PICARD. They are the 5th generation of winegrower in both familly sides but they wanted to create their own brand with their own philosophy.
Our target : The highest quality from the terroir.
The company started with 2,5Ha, no customers and bottles in stock ! 20 year after we grow 16Ha, we sell 100000 bottles in 22 countries and we have around 500000 bottles in stock in our cave.
What sort of wines are you producing ?
We produce Champagne with natural yeasts, oak fermentation and aging. No malolactic fermentation. Long aging in bottles with the lies.
How important are your export distribution compared to national distribution ?
We sell around 60 % in France and 40 % in other countries.
What sort of distributors are your customers ?
France : Private customer 90 % and 10 % retailers
Export : 100 % Importers.
Why your wines are different from other wineries in your area ?
We are Récoltant-Manipulant, means taht we grow 100 % of the grapes we use for our Champagne. We own the 3 grape varieties in the best places of Champagne regions like « Le Mesnil sur Oger » grand-Cru for the Chardonnay and also the right bank of the marne valley for the Meunier & Pinot-Noir.
We do the vinification and aging in large oak barrels without malolactic fermentation, which is really exclusive.
Aging in the bottle is longer than usual.
Do you produce grapes in a organic or environmental friendly method, or with general methods ?
Environmental friendly method.
Are your wines already distributed in Asia, and if not what are the countries you are looking for new distributors ?
Yes, mainly in Japan.
We are looking for a serious and long term relationship for the distribution in China.
Is there anything who want to add about your wines, story or any news ?
We also produce a special and unic red wine from Champagne called « Terres de Meunier ». It is a Coteaux Champenois made from a single plot of vine named « Les Louves ». Organic growing (Certified). Very limited production (1733 bottles in 2014).
