Could you please tell us the story of your winery, when it was created and how it developed decades after decades ?
The winery was created in 2012 by two friends, lovers of the Atlantic white wines and both of them with the same philosophy. We wanted to get unique wines that represents the altitude of our vineyards and to obtain the maximum potential of the varieties with which we work, Hondarribi Zuri 95% and 5% of Riesling
What sort of wines are you producing ?
We elaborate 3 wines:
Txakoli Uno, aged on lees.
Txakoli Urtaran elaborated in oak and chestnut barrels
Bat Gara, harvest wine: the year that we get raisin grapes, we make a late harvest wine
How important are your export distribution compared to national distribution ?
We export the 35% of our production and the 65% we sell it in our country.
What sort of distributors are your customers ?
We are focused on mid-high range distributors and specialized stores.
Why your wines are different from other wineries in your area ?
The D.O. leaves us to produce 12.000 kg, however we reduce our production to 6.000.000 kg per hectare to get better maturation of the grapes. We do the harvest with boxes of 12 kg and the fermentation with indigenous yeasts during 60 -90 days. After that we maintain the wine with lees other 6 months.
Do you produce grapes in a organic or environmental friendly method, or with general methods ?
Our way of work is minimal intervention viticulture with organic fertilizers because we consider it as the best way to express the terroir and the minerality of the wines, and to be environmentally friendly.
Are your wines already distributed in Asia, and if not what are the countries you are looking for new distributors ?
Our wines are present in Japan and Singapore.We are searching more countries where our wine could fit.
