Could you please tell us the story of your winery, when it was created and how it developed decades after decades ?
Mastrojanni has been writing history with its wines since 1975, when lawyer Mastrojanni owned the property of 90 Ha in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, the south easternmost corner of Montalcino, an area with a strong winemaking tradition and the homeland of Brunello. In 1992, Andrea Machetti, started managing the cellars and in September 2008 the farm was owned by the Illy Group, naming Andrea Machetti as CEO. Today Mastrojanni stretches over 90 hectares, 35 of which for vines, with vineyards over 35 years old. The height varies from 190 meters to 420 meters above sea level. The area enjoys exposure to all cardinal points, with more or less steep slopes.

Brunello DOCG, Brunello Vigna Loreto DOCG, Brunello Vigna Schiena d’Asino DOCG, Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Igt San Pio, Moscadello late harvest, Grappa di Brunello riserva

Why your wines are different from other wineries in your area ?
Kind of soil in Vigna Loreto : tufa and river stones with an implantation of 6 old clones of Sangiovese
We take care after the vineyards until we scrupulously pick up the grape by hand.
Do you produce grapes in a organic or environmental friendly method, or with general methods ?
We use integrated agriculture.
Are your wines already distributed in Asia, and if not what are the countries you are looking for new distributors ?
We are already distributed in Asia. We are looking for Kazakistan – Kirghizistan – Tagikistan – Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan – India – Maldive – Georgia – Sri Lanka – Libano – Qatar – Filippine – Indonesia
